Quick start
From your first sign-in to a bid file on your computer, one action at a time. Each step names the button exactly as it appears on the screen. Some steps need a particular role; one person doing everything needs the owner role.
The steps
Open the invitation your administrator sent and choose a password. Then, on the sign-in page, type your email and password and press Sign in. If you are the first owner of a new organisation, four short set-up steps come first. Press Skip for now on any you want to leave for later.
Why: Everything you do is recorded under your name, so every decision belongs to a person.
Open Settings in the top bar. Under 2. The kind of bids you want, write Bids you want and Bids you never want in plain sentences. Fill in the value and deadline limits if they matter to you, then press Save what you want.
Why: Every call is read against these answers. Until Bids you want is filled in, nothing can be picked.
On the same page, under 1. Who you are, paste what your organisation does, its past projects, clients and team into About your organisation. Press Save the description.
Why: The writers use this as your evidence. Without it, a draft knows nothing true about you.
An administrator or owner goes to 5. What runs on its own, further down Settings, turns on Score every new call each morning and presses Save what runs on its own.
Why: With it on, new calls are read every morning without anyone asking.
Open Today and press Read the calls now. Keep the page open while it reads.
Why: Your first picks arrive now instead of tomorrow morning.
In Found for you, read the reason on each card. Choose Suitable or Not suitable, add a few words, and press Save answer.
Why: Your answers are read before the next ranking, so the picks get closer to what you want.
On a pick you want to go for, press Draft this one.
Why: This records that you are going for it and opens the bid.
If the buyer has published documents, such as a specification or award criteria, add them under The buyer's documents with Add documents. Then press Write the draft and keep the page open for a few minutes.
Why: Without the buyer's documents, the draft is written from the public notice alone.
Read the draft. A reviewer or owner presses Approve this draft at the top of the bid. To turn it down, open Reject this draft, give a reason and press Reject.
Why: Nothing the writers produce becomes part of the bid until a named person approves it.
The band at the top of the bid lists what is still needed. Press each Fill in: … or Answer: … button, fill it in and press Save.
Why: Each item is something the funder asks for, or a question the writers could not answer for you.
Have a question about a bid? Under Ask about this bid, below the bid, type it and press Ask (about …, estimated). The specialist best suited to it answers. Choose another under Who answers, or press Ask the team (three answers, about …, estimated) to hear from three.
Why: Each answer is advice from a specialist who has read the whole bid. Nothing in the bid changes unless you press Use this in …, edit the text and press Save.
When the band says Nothing missing. Ready to download., press Download Word or Download PDF. Submit the file in the funder's own portal, then come back and press Record that it was sent under When you have sent it.
Why: edu.works never submits for you. Recording it moves the bid to Sent.
What it costs
Reading calls and writing drafts use an AI model, and your organisation pays the model provider each time. On the live site in October 2026, a morning's reading cost between 1 and 9 US cents, the first full reading of 468 calls cost 37 cents, and one full draft cost about 37 cents. Adding the buyer's documents makes a draft cost more. A monthly spend limit stops both when it is reached. An administrator or owner sets it on Admin, under Model spend this month.
What to do every morning
- Open Today. If a notice says The last reading stopped, follow its link.
- Judge each new pick in Found for you, and press Draft this one on the ones you want.
- Work through Draft ready and With you: approve, fill in what is needed, download.
The full manual is available once you have signed in.
